What is Sacred Geometry, and why is it important for our Health?Jun 23, 2020

For those of you who aren’t familiar with sacred geometry, it is a fascinating topic and one that I was introduced to only recently meeting my friend, Justin who created the Flower of Life above here on the Washington coast near me.
Sacred geometry ascribes meanings to different shapes and proportions that are found throughout our world and even in our bodies! At the core of sacred geometry is the belief that there is spiritual importance to how things are physically arranged around us. I’ve always felt this was important as any intuitive Nature lover would attest to but I never knew just how deeply this can impact our life.
Essentially, Sacred Geometry connects us to our mind, body and spirit making us more aware of our health, our relationships, our emotions and even the subtleties of the energies of everything around such as sound energy. On a purely physical perspective, Sacred geometry recognizes five shapes, known as the Platonic Solids, as the building blocks upon which our world is built. This is found in every single cell to the universe in every aspect. Below are brief summaries of each:
The tetrahedron, or triangular pyramid, is composed of four triangular faces. It represents balance and stability due to its strong base, no matter how you position it. Tetrahedron.gif
The hexahedron is a cube composed of six square faces. The sacred shape is a symbol of grounding energy and focus, as it sits firmly wherever it is placed.
The octahedron is an eight-sided shape that looks like a crystal. It represents the element of air and is connected to the Heart Chakra. Octahedron.gif
The dodecahedron has twelve flat faces and pushes us to connect with our true nature. It corresponds with the element of ether and is related to the Higher Chakras.
The icosahedron has twenty sides and is instrumental in helping us express ourselves creatively. The shape encourages people to go with the flow and breakthrough emotional blockages that may be holding them back. Icosahedron.gif

Beyond these shapes, others have important implications in our lives. The sphere, simple and perfect, is the ideal representation of unity and completeness. We look to the sphere as a reminder that everything is connected. This evident from ancient cultures in their Medicine Wheel to the martial arts in all moves done in circular forms.
Finally, the flower of life is one of my favourite sacred shapes. It is both geometrically and visually beautiful. You may recognize the flower of life figure as containing overlapping circles that create a stunning, and almost mind-bending, canvas. Within the flower of life, you can also find many of the other sacred shapes!
The flower of life is particularly special to me because it embodies our life energy or qi! And this is where sacred geometry connects directly with what we’ve been talking about this year.
As you know, I am deeply passionate about managing and nourishing our qi well. It is so important for our overall health and well-being. Those of you who have been following along with me know that we’ve been discussing the benefits of practising qigong regularly, which is one way to direct qi in our bodies.

Tai chi, good quality sleep, and energy medicine are also effective strategies for achieving similar health goals. By adding sacred geometry to the conversation, we have another way to think about how to invest in our holistic health.
With so much unrest and uncertainty in our world today, I want you to understand the many tools and practices you have available to you to protect your health. Many people are feeling especially anxious and stressed right now, including me.
But, we simply can’t wait around for the world to return to the old normal. We must take control of our own health, whether it be through moving meditations, spiritual renewal, physical exercise, or consistent sleep.

Are you someone who connects deeply with nature?
Much of what I teach revolves around our relationship with Mother Earth. I love being outdoors, taking fresh air into my lungs, and walking through lush forests. A big part of the reason why I have fallen in love with qigong is that you can practice outdoors.
If you are someone who loves being outside, think about what health practices you can take with you beyond your home or gym. By exercising your body in an environment you love, you also nourish your mind and spirit, which are equally important.
Are you someone who struggles to get health momentum?
Always remember that the different facets of our health are interconnected. If your mind is weary, it can be hard to motivate yourself to engage in daily health rhythms. If you don’t sleep, you can’t expect to want or enjoy going for a long hike. At the same time, if you don’t invest in your body, you may feel mentally at your declining fitness levels.
Mind, body, and spirit are intimately connected. You must invest in all three to enjoy life to the fullest. Why not bring it all together learning tai chi & qigong?

Bringing us back to the topic of sacred geometry, it can be hard to reach health goals if you can’t see the beauty in your life. Learning more about sacred geometry can help a lot in this area.
